I doubt Jesus would have rolled over in his grave if he were in a grave, but rather, would have seen the teaching opportunity in the situation and gone with it!!

I haven’t visited here in a long time. What I really think women want is respect, and men want understanding. Actually I read that somewhere, and I know that what I really want out of my marriage is respect. And I’m the wife. Also, food for thought, one of the last matriarchal cultures is in China, the Mosui (if I recall correctly). They don’t necessarily mate for life, although they could if they wanted to, but have something called a “walking marriage". The women are in charge completely, and her partner in love doesn’t even help raise their own children, but instead lives in his mother’s home and helps raise his sister’s children. There is no divorce because the “love partnership” doesn’t have to last until death, but can end at any time. At any rate, the whole set-up works so well there is no word in their language for rape or murder and there is no crime. Why do you think it works so well??

Yeah, I wish I could have been at the last one, because there was so much flawed logic and misinformation/misrepresentation coming from the other side.
I’ll be curious to see which direction the discussion takes this Tuesday!

From my past experience with GAB it sounds like there are more religious students as well as more people from the general community going up to speak. UNIFI also seemed vastly underrepresented, and with less participation from the “regulars” which is certainly not a bad thing. Listening to the podcast, I also felt as though the number of speakers coming from a religious position far outweighed the number of non-religious speakers, and it was heartening to hear from pro-science religious folks since the issue tends to get polarized quickly.

I couldn’t tell from the podcast how many of the comments were from repeat visitors to the mike. How many people would you estimate spoke on each side of the issue? Were most of the speakers from Kaio and UNIFI, or were there a lot of speakers from the general community?

Thanks for the podcast! Very spirited discussion. Wish I could have been there for that topic!
Is it going to be back at Voodoo in April, or is it going to stay on campus? I’d vote for on campus!

The name Easter comes from the Saxon Goddess Eastre (Ostara), whose sacred animal was a hare. The history including colored eggs is described in detail at http://altreligion.about.com/cs/alchemy/a/mpreviss.htm
Eggs have been part of spring rituals for a very long time, as they are symbols of rebirth and fertility.
I guess it takes Christians to make plastic ones!
